Monday, April 15, 2013 “The Anatomy of a Writer’s Blog”
Author Wendi Pierce will introduce blogging as a way for writers to try out ideas, to write more consistently and regularly, and to engage with an audience. She will focus on the components of a successful and effective blog post. Pierce now serves as chair of the English Department at Tarrant County College Northwest, and has taught at Soutern Methodist University, Brookhaven College, Collin County Community College, and El Centro College. Wendi is co-author of “Historic Road Trips from Dallas/Fort Worth”,”a book which provides a road map of driving trips throughout Texas and a narrative history of the tiny towns, historic markets, and frontier battles along the way.

Speaker Kim Jackson will discuss that often, the things we write are not the things that are understood because of the writer’s assumptions about the audience. This program examines the disconnect about what is written and what is read and how assumptions hinder communication.
